The Kappa Sigma Parents Club helps keep parents connected and coordinates activities with the undergraduate chapter. The Parents Club assists the chapter with the Family Day Auction, Mom's and Dad's Day, holiday decorations, receptions and final exam treats. The Parents Club has generously donated money that has been used to make many updates to the house.

KAPPA SIGMA PARENTS CLUB 2010 SPRING NOTES

Kappa Sigma is 2^nd On The Hill For Fall 2009 Grades

Congratulations to the men for their incredible placement of 2^nd in grades among all fraternities at KU. The Parents Club sent cookies to the house to recognize their academic achievements. We also sent treats when the men earned 4^th in grades for spring 2009 and won numerous awards at the Greek Awards Night in April.

Family Day

Family Day this past fall was a great success. Before the dinner and auction, parents attended a meeting in the Crest Room to discuss the club’s business and upcoming events. Sign up sheets were available to parents for the many volunteer opportunities within the club. A portion of the funds raised at this year’s auction were donated to Harvest Week, the Kappa Sigma Philanthropy for Habitat for Humanity.

Football Tailgates

The Parents Club organized two football tailgates this past fall in the Kappa Sigma parking lot. Plans are in the works to repeat these fun events for the parents. We even managed to feed quite a few hungry Kappa Sigs on game day.

Mom’s & Dad’s Day
Mom’s Day is planned for March 6^th. Moms will enjoy an afternoon of bowling and watching the KU game followed by appetizers at the house and a formal dinner at the Lawrence Country Club. A pub crawl and games at the house will follow the dinner. Many moms are spending the night in Lawrence. All moms are invited to join their sons for brunch at the house the following morning.

Dad’s Day is April 17^th. Festivities for the day include a golf outing and a barbeque at the house. A pub crawl and games at the house are also planned.

Final Exams

Cheri Lemieux and Janet Newhouse coordinated the final exam treat committee that ensured our Sons had food to nourish them during their long and late night study sessions. Thank you to all the moms who delivered and provided treats.

Christmas Decorations

The moms did a beautiful job decorating the house for the holidays. Many commented on how wonderful the house looked this season. Thank you to Cathy Corey and her committee.

House Improvements

The list of improvements to the house continues to grow. This past semester the Parents Club purchased a new microwave and rugs for the foyer. Another parent/son work day is being scheduled for the spring with plans for additional landscape renovations. The Parents Club is also purchasing additional patio furniture.

Graduation Reception

Plans are being made for a graduation day reception at the house to honor all of our graduating seniors and their families. More information on this event will be coming soon.
