KAPPA SIGMA AWARDS and HONORS The men of Kappa Sigma strive for excellence in all aspects of the chapter. These efforts have resulted in numerous coveted awards and a prominent position in the Greek community at KU. Kappa Sigma has placed in the top 5 fraternities in grades for the past 4 semesters. They placed second in grades among the 22 fraternities at KU this past fall 2009. Philanthropy Kappa Sigma is one of two founding fraternities of Harvest Week. Harvest week a week long fundraiser where 4 fraternities, Kappa Sig, Beta, Delta Chi and Phi Delt, come together to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Gamma-O is also involved in the Fisher House Foundation which builds houses, known as Fisher Houses, in which families of injured soldiers can stay while their loved ones receives long term care in a military hospital. The first Fisher House in Washington D.C.is being named in honor of Brother Robert Dole. Each Kappa Sig gives 20 hours of community service each semester. Greek Awards 2010 (Award titles revised from 2009) Chapter Standards and Membership Accountability, Scholarship, Leadership, Growth, Brotherhood, Community Service and Philanthropy, One of three KU fraternities awarded the Chapter Excellence Award 2009 Outstanding Senior Man, Membership Development, Sportsmanship, Risk Management, Most Improved Scholarship, External Relations, Special Commendation- Chapter Excellence category National Awards Gamma-O was awarded the third straight FACE Award (Founder’s Award of Chapter Excellence), this summer in New Orleans. This yearly award is the highest honor given by the Kappa Sigma Fraternity to its chapters. |
